We know, we use them for all our real estate signage. So for this month’s business profile, we spoke to Andrew Wright at Sun City Signs about his business and what sets it apart from the rest.

1. How long has your business been servicing the Mackay region?

Sun City Signs has been around for nearly 50 years. In the mid-90s, then owner Jim decided to move the premises to Paget to directly service the industrial and commercial interests of the Mackay and Coalfields region.

2. What sets you apart from other signwriters in Mackay?

We offer a “total-solution” service, right from initial design concepts, through to printing, engraving, manufacture and installation of the customer’s signage.

3. What would be your most popular service?

We’ve installed and upgraded many premises and vehicles signs for many businesses over the years. Chances are, you’ve driven past one of our eye-catching designs.

4. What would you like the people of Mackay to know about your business?

Signage adds value to your business in many ways. By helping customers locate your premises, inform them of the products and services that you provide, and help keep your business front-of-mind when a customer needs a product like yours.

5. What’s one tip you can give other businesses when it comes to their signwriting?

Ask the experts! Come in and see us about an idea you may have and we can turn it from an initial concept into a dazzling signage solution for your business.

Sun City Signs also has this signage advice for any business in Mackay.

Clean font

The most important thing about your signage should be just how readable it is. We all like the look of fancy fonts, but the facts are that if a potential customer cannot read what your signs say, they aren’t going to get educated on your brand. The font should be as equally legible up close and far away. The cleaner and clearer the font is, the more likely it is to attract attention.

Attractive logo

All custom signage should have your business logo imprinted on it in one way or another, so you need to make sure that you come up with a logo that is appropriate in various sizes and is also instantly recognisable. You want to make sure that the logo you decide upon is appropriate and fitting for your field.

Catchy slogans

Advertising really is key to helping any kind of business thrive, and when it comes to custom signage, it is all about trying to grab customers’ attention with catchy slogans and memorable sayings. All of the biggest businesses have the most memorable catchphrases, so if you can come up with something great to put on your custom signage, you will stand a much better chance of taking off and being remembered by members of the public.
