1000 job opportunities in Mackay

The job opportunities in Mackay are endless.

From accounting to construction, hospitality to retail and education to charity work, there are currently 998 job opportunities in the Mackay region advertised on Mackay Regional Council’s Job Link website.

There have been 20 job opportunities published in the last month alone. From seeking a new principal for Mackay North High School to a casual food and beverage attendant, pharmacy assistant, dozer operator, clinical nurse, sous chef and sales positions.

On top of that, Mackay Regional Council has eight new positions available for its 2023 Apprentice and Trainee intake – and they’re not just for school leavers.

Mayor Greg Williamson said the Apprentice and Trainee program offers an opportunity for successful applicants to gain valuable on-the-job training.

“Council is a fantastic place to work, and we encourage people from all walks of life to consider taking on a role in our workforce.

“With roles across the board, from libraries to local laws and water services – there is something to pique everyone’s interest.

“The apprentice and traineeships often lead to full time work at council, and we are very proud to say we have many of our past apprentices and trainees still working here even 10 years later.”

Coordinated by Hays Recruitment, the Apprentice and Trainee intake opportunities include business trainee, Local Laws trainee, warehouse trainee, Live Production trainee (MECC), Asset Information trainee, apprentice chef, water industry trainee and library services trainee.

Workplace diversity and flexibility are a major focus of the Apprentice and Trainee intake program and Council encourages applications from Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people, anyone re-entering the workforce, those from a non-English speaking background, individuals with a disability, impairment or long-term condition, school leavers or an adult worker wishing to change careers or gain new skills.

Applications for the 2023 Apprentice and Trainee intake are now open and close on November 6.
