Grow in pots

Lots of veggies grow great in pots. In fact, some veggies are better grown in pots than in the ground.

Growing your veggies in pots has a number of benefits.

One, smaller pots are relatively easy to move and therefore can be shifted to find the ideal position for the plant.

Pots also come in lots of different shapes and sizes making them a decorative feature.

Growing your veggies in pots means you don’t have to do lots of digging or weeding.

Almost all veggies can be grown in pots, anything that isn’t too large or cumbersome.

Think tomatoes, spinach, lettuce, beans, peas, capsicum, chillies, carrots, celery, bok choi, pak choi and herbs.

Vertical garden

Vertical gardens are essentially pots or containers mounted on a wall where the veggies are grown in a vertical fashion.

Vertical gardens are great space savers and better still, they make a great feature wall or privacy screen.

You can make your own vertical garden out of timber boxes, pots or containers on stands of different heights, even jars or hanging pots at different heights can be used to make a vertical garden.

Some of the veggies best grown in a vertical garden include cherry tomatoes, greens, beans, herbs, cucumbers, and strawberries.

Hanging pots

Hanging pots can just, well, hang about anywhere and can be used to grow veggies.

Think baskets spilling over with an abundance of juicy tomatoes, chillies, salad greens and everyday herbs like thyme, parsley, and coriander.

While hanging baskets are a great space saver – and they look fabulous too – don’t forget to regularly water your baskets. They are at risk of easily drying out.

Happy gardening!
