New analysis reveals cheapest and priciest Mackay suburbs

A new analysis of home values shows potential buyers the cheapest and priciest areas in every Australian suburb.

The analysis of SA1 regions by PropTrack, reveals in an interactive map the most affordable to the most expensive areas in each suburb.

A street map is overlaid with different coloured areas indicating, by the key, the median house price for each suburb from $327,000 to $426,000.

PropTrack senior economist Paul Ryan told realestate.com.au, across Australia, the median difference between the lowest and highest SA1 median values is $365,000 for houses and $330,000 for units, but the variation is much higher in expensive suburbs.

“In some cases – particularly in premium suburbs – the difference between the most affordable and the most expensive parts of suburbs can be many millions of dollars,” he said.

In Mackay CBD for example, the data shows the area from Wellington Street in the west to Sydney Street in the east, Shakespeare Street in the north and George Street in the south is light blue, indicating by the key, to be one of the more affordable locations.

While the area directly west from this from the Bruce Highway to Milton Street, Shakespeare Street and George Street is red, indicating by the key, that it is at the highest end of the threshold with a median house price of $426,000.

According to realestate.com.au, the current median house price in Mackay CBD is $395,500, an increase of 8.2 per cent in the past 12 months.

Other Mackay suburbs that can be investigated for home values using the interactive map include East Mackay, Mackay Harbour, North Mackay, South Mackay and West Mackay.
