More than 1000 Australians were surveyed by Mortgage Choice and Core Data to find out what the Great Australian Dream is today.
Their findings showed, 53.9 per cent of those surveyed believe the traditional Great Australian Dream of owning a free-standing property in the suburbs is no longer relevant.
Instead, more than 70 per cent said a new Australian dream that is more in line with reality needs to be imagined.
Essentially, it would seem the Great Australian Dream is simply owning a property regardless of type because 80 per cent of survey participants indicated their number one goal is to own ‘any kind of property they can call home’.
